“Excellence can be achieved by combining creativity, compassion, and leadership. One needs to be creative as a clinician because, despite all of the advances of modern medicine, each patient is unique, and diagnoses are not always obvious. Compassion is a core principle of all the healing professions and should be the main driver of every health care provider. And Leadership is required to address the complicated problems that we face in healthcare.”
SAIU is first and foremost a healthcare university. At SAIU we teach that caring about the patients’ well-being is the cornerstone upon which to build your medical career. We teach modern medicine, and blend this with traditional medicine, allowing our students to best treat the patient with an eye on choices and risks, which leads to informed ‘quality of life’ decisions.
It is our goal to provide our students with the knowledge and skills that would enable them to pursue a career in any branch of the health sciences, and to allow our students to become caring, respectful, and socially responsible professionals.
SAIU’s strategic planning for education, research, and diversity includes student engagement in attaining competency; faculty participation and investing across scientific disciplines; and building on key strengths in the school, such as data science, team science, and health equity research.
Each patient is unique; diagnoses are not always obvious. A creative clinician uses all of the advances of modern medicine while remaining open to unconventional thinking.
Compassion is a core principle of all the healing professions and should be the main driver of every health care provider in every interaction with patients and families.
Leadership is required to address the complicated problems that we face in healthcare. As a leader, one needs to embody the principles of fairness and strive to reduce disparities.
Our leadership continues to evolve as we advance scientific discovery, innovative medical education, and compassionate care for all — across our global campus network.
