INTRODUCTION

The Bachelor of Sciences in Medical Studies, also referred to as the Pre- medical program, is offered in an on campus or on-line format. Students complete a 120 credit hour curriculum and obtain a Bachelor of Science degree.

DESCRIPTION : Intensive BSc program with concentration on sciences.

LOCATION : On-line or at our Curacao campus

PREREQUISITE :

Applicants from the British / European System of Education:

Students that have successfully completed three A-levels, of which at least two sciences are eligible for acceptance in the pre-medical program.

Applicants from the Dutch / Netherlands Antilles System of Education:

Applicants with a V.W.O. diploma with a science background, are eligible for acceptance in the pre-medical program. Students with a V.W.O. degree without sciences, and students that have completed H.A.V.O. with sciences, can also be considered for the pre-medical program.

Applicants from Other Systems of Education:

Applicants that have completed an International Baccalaureate ( IB ) program with sciences are eligible for acceptance in the pre-medical program.

Students that have completed any other high school degrees or pre-university degree with sciences can be considered for the pre-medical program providing the program will be evaluated on their merits but will be expected to have completed a pre-university sciences curriculum comparable to that of the IB program.

OTHER :

graduates that successfully complete the program with a minimum 2.8 GPA are automatically admitted to the SAISOM MD program and eligible for the MD/MPH or MD/MBA program.

Bachelor of Science in Medical Studies (BSc)

The Bachelor of Sciences in j Studies, also referred to as the Pre-medical program, is offered in an on campus or on-line format. Students can complete a 120 credit hour curriculum and obtain a Bachelor of Science degree. Our program focuses on building your competencies as a future member of a healthcare team. While you’ll gain core knowledge in the sciences, you’ll also learn about evidence-based decision making, health communication and cultural competence.

Upon completing this pre-med bachelor’s degree program, you will be prepared with the scientific knowledge and the communication skills needed to pursue a graduate studies in healthcare. Health-related graduate programs you may pursue include Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary medicine. Students that complete the program with the required GPA will gain admission to the MD program at SAISOM.

The pre-med program has a lab requirement that must be completed on campus. It is recommended to spend one month of the program on campus to gain experience in sciences. During this period, you will conduct hands-on experiments, connect with fellow students, and engage with faculty. The skills you’ll build in this lab experience are designed to support your post-graduation goals.
